Psychic Straw

Effect:

A straw moves without being touched,just by the power of the mind.

Trick:

Gather a group of people around,and balance a straw on the edge of a table. Tell the people to really concentrate on the straw to get it to move. Hold your hands above the straw as if your trying to get the straw to move, you must now try to blow the straw (eh hem, I think he means blow ON the straw) without anyone noticing, it's a good idea to ask everyone to really concentrate on the straw to get it to move. You may want to practice your blow technique (This isn't that type of site James) before performing the trick, use a mirror to make sure it is not to obvious.

If done right people will really think you can move objects with your mind! (If done wrong they'll think you're hitting on them!)

Works best with champagne corks but wine corks work as well.

Place each cork into the area between your forfinger and thumb (if your palms are facing down the corks should be verticle with the fat mushroom side up.)

The puzzle is to grab the corks with the thumb and forfinger of the opposite hand (both at the same time) and remove them without interlinking them. Once you know how it is done...it pays to demonstrate that they link like a chain link and that is the wrong way.

The solution is to twist your hands so the thumbs both touch the bottom of the cork at the same time. Wrap your forfinger around to the top and the corks pull away.

The best thing about this trick is you can still do it while your drunk. In fact that is the best time to bring it out as it drives the puzzlers crazy that a drunk guy can do it.
